 Our Commitment to Impact

When discussing the specific challenges faced by the metropolitan area, it is important to consider the unique context of Washington DC and its ward system. Washington DC is divided into eight geographic areas known as wards, each with its own distinct characteristics. Among these wards, Wards 7 and 8 have been specifically highlighted due to their notable socioeconomic conditions and disparities compared to the other wards in Washington DC.

Wards 7 and 8 face higher rates of unemployment, poverty, and lower levels of educational attainment compared to the rest of the wards. These areas have long grappled with significant socioeconomic challenges, including limited economic opportunities, inadequate access to quality education, and higher poverty rates.

It is important to note that while Wards 7 and 8 are the focal point of our program, other areas within the DC communities are also described as pockets of poverty. Socioeconomic disparities can be found in various locations due to a multitude of factors such as income inequality, systemic barriers, limited resources, or historical neglect. Therefore, it is crucial that our team addresses these disparities and strive towards creating more equitable conditions for all communities facing such challenges, irrespective of their specific geographical location.

While you may see us launching other initiatives throughout Washington, DC,  a significant portion of our PACT program efforts are concentrated east of the Anacostia River, encompassing Wards 7 and 8.

This is what the PACT program wants to combat.
